Success without God

June 04, 2008 By: Reah Category: faith No Comments →

Success without God is like food without flavor. Being successful in everything you do does not always mean God’s presence still is or was there. It may also mean that you have chosen to become successful and yet have forgotten about the call to obedience.

Some people choose accomplishments over spending time or having relationship with God. They choose…we…I, sometimes..choose to spend more time doing everything in the world to become successful in what we do even if it isn’t clear to us that what we’re doing is really from God.

Others say that one successful person is an evidence of God’s presence. This isn’t always true for success is not always a sign of God’s blessing. You may choose the path to success without a relationship with God. Yes, in the world’s eyes you are successful but would it really matter before God? Time with God is not merely a substitute or a means to achieve that ’success’. It is a way of life.

Success and riches are only temporary. But a relationship with God is that one thing you could forever hold on to. To value the presence of God in your life is better than all the success, wealth, and the power the world could bring.

Great achievements, a good name, a big house, a nice car, even a mega-church may be signs of success but if God’s presence isn’t there, then it is nothing..utterly meaningless.

What will you choose: climbing up the ladder to worldly success or climbing up the ladder to the heavens?

Fix Your Eyes on Jesus

Shift your eyes away from Jesus and it’ll cost you.

Taking the matter into your own hands will not make a situation better. It’ll just make it worse bringing you more reason to be depressed. However, there will be times that disobedience can bring happiness. But would that be considered true joy if the Father in heaven is upset?

Moses for example, was a man who for many times, disobeyed God blatantly because He focused more on the people. He was too busy leading them to the Promise Land and making them change their unruly behavior that he lost focus on God.

And like Moses, there will be times that us Christians focus more on the ‘ministry’ and the ‘people’ rather than the Cause. If we concentrate on the people, there will never be answers to questions or fulfillment to the promise. People will leave. People will just fail you…they will just continue to disobey and neglect your ministry.

When people disappoint, look to God. Focus your eyes on the one true God because by doing that, you become more like Him. That is, loving, forgiving, gracious, long-suffering, and righteous.

When a person sins, never concentrate on the sin but rather on what God wants to do in that person’s life. Ask what you can do to help that person turn their eyes once more on Jesus. You’ll be amazed by the power that the Lord will give you to help that certain friend, if only your heart is pure and forgiving.

That You May Marvel

When God asks us to do go the other direction, it doesn’t always mean we’re doing the wrong thing in the path we are currently taking. We are but servants of the living Master and God being the only Voice we must follow, sets the agenda for us. When He does call, the servants ought to follow no matter how rough the road may be.

Jesus, when He was about to be crucified, was even asking the Father to take the cup away from Him. He wanted the cup taken away from Him because He knew how it would hurt him. But He is Jesus..He is God…and the Son knew the Father so well the He was well aware of the divine activity planned not just for Him but for mankind.

God is at work in us and around us. We may be too busy trying to ask God to come into our activities that we’ve failed to notice that He is already working.

I have finally learned to trust God in times of trouble…in times of need…in times of hurt. I have found peace in His presence and in the presence of my loved ones and His people. Allowing me to completely enjoy waiting for what is yet to come…till Kingdom come.

I open my eyes to what is happening…that I may see His glory..that you and I may marvel.
