Of Friendships,Reunions, and American Dreams

December 13, 2007 By: Reah Category: family, pasyal, raves No Comments →

No this won’t be another post on my wedding. It’s just that I’m excited that my bestfriend from the USA will be coming home just for my wedding. Cecille has been my bestfriend since grade school and she left for Virginia the same year the World Trade Center destruction happened. She came home 3 years ago and surprised me. I had no idea that she’ll be coming home then so it was extra special.

She’s now in Virginia and living her American dream. I’m one of those few Filipinos who don’t dream about migrating to the US because I still believe in the Philippines. But when my bestfriend begins to talk about how much money she’s earning, the places she’s been, and the people she’d met, I sometimes find myself searching for and looking at Virginia, New York, and New Orleans guide. Now those 3 states I know are far from each other but they truly intrigue me. Virginia because my bestfriend and her family are there. New York because of Broadway, and New Orleans because I wanna see if it has fully recovered after the Hurricane Katrina badly hit the town 2 years ago.

Don’t get me wrong…my American dreams are limited to just that—vacation. I still don’t have any plans of working there or starting a family there because I know how difficult it would be. But if God wills it, I will definitely go.

Trying TriNoMa

Yesterday’s trip to TriNoMa was oh so okay. I didn’t think we’d finally push through with this Saturday pasyal. We said we’d leave before lunch but I had lots of things to do first. We rode the MRT. Yey! I miss the train so much and it was our 2nd time to ride the MRT together so it’d be fun. Thanks to his brother Sam who drove us to Buendia station. As usual, train was jampacked. Worse, there was no airconditioning. Good thing I decided to just wear jeans and a shirt instead of a dress. Haha!

Not even inside the mall, we were discussing how good TriNoMa’s location is. Goldilock’s had a strategic location. Mall’s design was very similar to Glorietta and MarketMarket. We also noted that its rise in the boring North might kill the nearby SM. I was very hungry but forgot about my condition when I saw the SALE signs. You know, I am such a sucker for SALEs even if I don’t have much moolah. But I promised myself and Joshie that if I’m going to buy something that day, it would be a dress because of my current love affair with dresses. Dress…dress…dress…was my mantra for that day. No shoes. No bags. No shirts. Just a dress..if I see something I like. I chose a lot that I couldn’t remember which store I saw which dress. I was supposed to buy this t-shirt from Bayo but I told myself that I’d have to think about it first. Get out of the store, walk some more, look around, decide, then come back later. And yehey! I was so successful that day because I didn’t buy anything to wear. Just a book which boyfriend approved even if it was a just chick lit.

We ate at the very crowded FoodCourt. Tried Razon’s. Bought Halo-halo, pancit, and longsilog for Joshie. I did not enjoy Razon’s specialty because Joshie ate almost everything without him noticing. Haha. It’s okay since I am helping him gain weight. I was still hungry so I bought regular fries which he also ate. Pffft.

Just when we were about to go home, he asked me to check out the JB Music Store near the exit. There were guitars on sale so I thought I’d buy a new one…anything below P2,000 and just swipe my credit card. I was asking him to choose one he thinks would be good. He wouldn’t answer me..not until we were outside. Joshie blurted out, “eh ang pangit naman nun no! kung gusto mo nang gitarang pambahay…mga tig P4k pwede na…kaya di ako makasagot eh..kasi nahihiya ako..”. Haha! Just because he owns a 30k worth guitar and he is My Guitarman..and he is GOOD…he has the right to tell me if a guitar is good or not. Ohkay fine. Enough said. I did not say anything further. :p

Am I coming back? Yes…3 weeks from now because I have to pick up my PowerBooks card. And then I can go shopping. I am definitely going there alone this time. A-L-O-N-E. So no one will forbid from buying what I want. :p

First Time High at the Fort

July 15, 2007 By: Reah Category: pasyal No Comments →

Not really the first time. We don’t usually go there and because we haven’t been to Bonifacio High Street and Serendra, we decided to give it a try. We left my place at 10 pm. Too late? Nah. The night was just starting. Well, except for the few shops that were closed.
I loved the place! Joshie liked it too. I especially loved the 4-storey Fully Booked! I just love the smell of new books and the aroma of Startbucks coffee. I didn’t notice if there’s wifi. I bet.Oh well.

Finally got to visit the Crocs store. I was supposed to buy a pair of golden Prima crocs but size 8 was small and size 9 was too big. I guess I’m not buying anymore. And yes, my visit confirmed that they’re really unflattering. Too bad, All Flip Flops was already closed.

And oh I bought something! Again?! Haha. I bought Digory a silicon keypad cover. I just “fetched” him from the “hospital” and thought of buying him something. I chose the black one because white is too dumihin you know. I’m going back to iStudio to buy that MacBook Pro…err…leather case for Digory. Teehee.
