Travel Bugs
DAY 19. was chatting with my bestfriend Cecille a while ago. She was in Boracay and she couldn’t stop raving about the island. She’s here for a 2-week visit from the US to spend time with her whole family. They all went to Boracay for 4 days. I was reminded of the one week Josh and I stayed there for our honeymoon. I could not help but reminisce.
For the past days, I’ve been looking for hotels or resorts where my husband and I could stay overnight. I told him it would be our last weekend getaway, just the two of us, before our baby is born next month. I suggested Sonia’s Garden but I deem it too far for a pregnant me. So I thought, a hotel stay will do. I’m thinking about staying at the Mandarin Hotel or the Manila Peninsula but it depends on our budget. The hotels are just a few minutes away for our house so there’d be no problem.
It would also depend on our schedule since sometimes, Josh works during the weekend. If not, I guess I’d just settle on browsing over my online photo albums and imagine we’re out of town. Sigh…
Allow me to post some of our travel photos:

BKK Trip 2008 – Safari World
On our first day, we went to the Safari World, said to be the greatest open zoo and leisure park in Thailand. It was fun alright but I wasn’t too convinced with its tagline ‘The World of Happiness’.
Good thing though that it was a holiday so we spent our first day there with Ate, Kuya Chad, and Nav. I especially enjoyed our time at the aviary feeding those yellow flying creatures. I slept through half of the Safari ride.
The sea lion show was more impressive than the one in Zoobic but the dolphin show was boring.

No commentsOf Friendships,Reunions, and American Dreams
No this won’t be another post on my wedding. It’s just that I’m excited that my bestfriend from the USA will be coming home just for my wedding. Cecille has been my bestfriend since grade school and she left for Virginia the same year the World Trade Center destruction happened. She came home 3 years ago and surprised me. I had no idea that she’ll be coming home then so it was extra special.
She’s now in Virginia and living her American dream. I’m one of those few Filipinos who don’t dream about migrating to the US because I still believe in the Philippines. But when my bestfriend begins to talk about how much money she’s earning, the places she’s been, and the people she’d met, I sometimes find myself searching for and looking at Virginia, New York, and New Orleans guide. Now those 3 states I know are far from each other but they truly intrigue me. Virginia because my bestfriend and her family are there. New York because of Broadway, and New Orleans because I wanna see if it has fully recovered after the Hurricane Katrina badly hit the town 2 years ago.
Don’t get me wrong…my American dreams are limited to just that—vacation. I still don’t have any plans of working there or starting a family there because I know how difficult it would be. But if God wills it, I will definitely go.
