The Wonders of Web Technology

September 21, 2007 By: Reah Category: raves, web No Comments →

Oh no. I’m not gonna make a litany. Just grateful to web technology for its many benefits…atleast for me.

1. ) People can happily resign from their desk jobs and earn at home. I’ve been working at home  for  5 months now and I  can say that I am very happy and fulfilled. I blogged about this already. And after a few months, I still feel the same way. I just hope and pray that I could do this forever.

2. ) The world is getting smaller. It only takes seconds to communicate with people on the other side of the world. Enough said.

3. ) Online shopping is the best! Nothing beats online window shopping and waiting for the package to arrive. Oooh..the joy! :p

4. ) Paying bills online rocks. I don’t have to go to the mall or the bank to pay. I pay all our bills online : credit cards, electricity, water, cellphone, Internet, etc.

5. ) I get to read really interesting stuff. I am always kept entertained. There are number of great blogs out there that I enjoy visiting. Websites that enrich the heart and mind.

6. ) I get to watch videos, movies and TV episodes! I heart vid-stream and youtube. My last trip to the moviehouse was to watch Transformers. That was like 2 months ago! But because of the Web, I’ve seen a lot already. As for the TV episodes, I don’t have to wait to buy numerous pirated DVDs because I only have to download them.

7. ) You meet a lot of friends. Since I’m online almost 24/7, I think I am called to make and keep online friends. There are a lot of genuine people out there. People who deserves to be called my friends both here and abroad. Since most of my friends in the Philippines are busy working, I’d just buzz my friends abroad and they’d easily respond. There was one time that I needed someone to talk to because I was having an anxiety attack, but online conversations with friends made me feel better.

8. ) I can rant and rave whenever I want to. I’d like to thank Twitter for this.

9. ) I can track my website and multiply visitors : both logged and unlogged. I can identify who visits my multiply or where certain comments or multiply sites were made. I thank God because my work revolves around the web. I have uber techy friends, here and abroad who can help me with my quest. Website analysis is significant to me you know. Similar IP? You bet!

10. ) Web entangles me.

Aaah…the beauty of it all..the wonders of web technology. I love it!

Whiling Away With Wordpress

September 06, 2007 By: Reah Category: raves, web No Comments →

I am currently maintaining the TEMP website of our church because the official design is yet to be done and released.I did the design with the little Photoshop and Dreamweaver knowledge I’ve got. I must say the design is too pale. Forgive me as I know very little about digital art, more so using Photoshop. I just know the basics : crop, image resize, shadow, etc. I often envy those who really know how to design using this amazing Adobe tool.

This current them was redesigned by moi. My love for Apple is so evident you see. I am planning to fix this theme and submit it to Wordpress. Lately, I’ve been asking Joni a lot of stuff about Wordpress. I know I can’t make a theme from scratch so I guess I’ll just focus on very basic redesigning. Hehe.

Wordpress is so easy to understand. I did this redesign in less than 30 minutes but I promise to edit it some more. Perhaps change the CSS. And because of this desire, I finally installed Wordpress on our youth group’s and young adult’s subdomains. Basically, I just edited the headers, rearranged the widgets, and changed the images and fonts from the original.

Here’s CROSSLinC’s official website design:

ICS’ Young Adult’s weblog:

I am currently looking for a nice theme for the main church website but still haven’t found one that I know would appeal to the church people. Any suggestions? :D

And oh, to those who wish to tutor me for FREE, I’d be glad to supply you with lotsa Starbucks gift cert. :P
