I Took a Breather

November 08, 2007 By: Reah Category: randomnities, rants, raves, work 1 Comment →

…but I still need one.

I’ve been sooo busy with work and new projects that I hardly have time to sleep in and go out. Since Monday, I started waking up early…at 8:30 to “go to work”. By going to work I mean setting up my table, pressing the power button of my MacBook, checking if my wifi signal is good, sitting on the couch, opening Safari, and logging on to YM, MSN, Skype, and Google Talk. Yep, all 4 IMs! But I usually don’t log on to Yahoo not until 4 pm because I have so many friends there I’m afraid I won’t be able to concentrate on work.

What’s good about my new working time is that I get to sleep earlier than usual..1 am the latest. Unlike before when I was like on the graveyard shift. I am abusing Digory, my laptop. I ranted earlier that I want a new laptop but I don’t know when can I buy a new one because I need to save, save, and SAVE. My shopping days are over. Or so I said to myself after that fateful 16th of October. Sigh.

Anyway, since I’m always glued to our sofa and the computer screen I decided to go with my parents to the mall yesterday to work anywhere there’s free wifi. We went to Rob Pioneer because mom was gonna have a massage and dad wanted to watch a movie. Being over 60, he can watch free movies everyday! Haha. So he’s taking advantage of it every week, like he always did.

I wanted a change of ‘office’ environment and since my parents were paying, I went with them. I wanted to go to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf because I was craving for their Ultimate Mocha Frap but mom told me the cafe was closed already so we went to the Old Spaghetti House instead. I asked for the wifi access immediately, the waiter said it was free but I have to pay P100 for an hour use of their electricity. Owkay. My batt was fully charged anyway,I’ll just wait ’til it’s 10% then finally use their power outlet. Hehe.

I just had my lunch so I just ordered dessert : banana split!

Mommy ordered this:

I didn’t get the chance to take a picture of my dad’s garden salad because he finished the plate before I knew it! And here’s a photo of my office table yesterday..

I decided I’d do this atleast once a week. You know, for a change. And yeah, I was able to do a lot of things in my more than 2 hours of stay there. Unlike when I’m at home..tsk.

Web Team : The Reunion

August 18, 2007 By: Reah Category: raves, work No Comments →

It took one balikbayan to bring the Web Team together and had dinner at Congo Grille, El Pueblo. We weren’t complete but I sure had a grand time reuniting with the Web boys…and with the SEO Peeps of course! It was Sarah’s last day and as promised, I met up with them. I met with the SEO Team while Jason met with the rest of the boys. As always Kelly was oh so prepared with her digicam so naturally, we had a what seemed to be an endless pictorial session.

Dinner with the “original SEO girls” is yet to happen. I suggested that we meet at the blogger party but I highly doubt that I can come because of work. Karen won’t be able to make it and so is Kelly.

I’m pushing for a weekend dinner..Saturday?! Sige na! :D

Working in My Jammies

July 09, 2007 By: Reah Category: rants, raves, work No Comments →

Working at home also has its downsides. I’ve been staying at home for more than 2 months and am now used to sleeping and waking up late after 12 hours of sleep(everyday!) . Plus washing the dishes, doing the laundry, sometimes ironing the clothes, going to the grocery, and the likes. I do all these things while working….freelance. I know I am blessed to have this kind of job…you know, a job that allows me to do other things at the same time, receive visitors anytime, sleep whenever I want to, and get paid…more than what I was being paid in my previous company. But sometimes, I think that I’m missing out on a lot of things.

The downsides? Here :

> No officemates - I don’t have one. I have a boss but I don’t get to see him since he’s abroad. We talk only once a week. I chat with his wife everyday, the manager, but that’s just about it.

> No aircon - We don’t have air conditioning at home so all electric fans in the house are busy.

> No physical activity for me - because I no longer travel to work…physical activities are only limited to cleaning the house and doing the laundry

> No benefits - No SSS. No Philhealth. ..etc. But no tax! Haha.

> I don’t get to wear any nice clothes. :( This for me makes me sadder than the first items. I still keep on shopping for clothes but I just realized that I don’t get to wear them anymore. I am always in my pambahay clothes. I don’t wear shoes..always slippers. So just yesterday, I decided to bring out my Havies and use them everyday. I’m wearing a pair of brown top now..tomorrow that orange Cartunista.

A friend told me to wear office clothes for a change. Haha. I’d love to but I won’t because it is just so warm nowadays..way hottah than during summer I think. But on my birthday, I swear I’m gonna wear a dress!

But more than these, working at home has more benefits…obviously. For one, I am spared from traffic. Even if my previous office was only a 15-minute drive from my place, my workplace now is way better. I sometimes work in my room, my parents’ room, the living room, or sometimes in the kitchen! Thanks to wifi and my trusty MacBook.

I can sleep whenever I want. Of course, I need to be seen online but there’s always the YM buzz and the phone call. Hehe.

I am always with the people I love.:)

I can always have my special visitor at home…(read: boyfriend)

I can watch TV while working.

ETC.ETC.ETC!

And oh, I can work in my jammies. Hihi. :)
